Academics awarded for contribution to social sciences

Prof. Chris HuxhamTwo academics from Strathclyde Business School have been awarded Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. Professor Chris Huxham (Management) and Fiona Wishlade (Associate Director, EPRC) are two of the latest awardees.

The Academy of Social Sciences is the voice of the social sciences in the UK for the public benefit. Professor Huxham and Ms Wishlade are two of the 64 Chris Huxhamnew Academicians who are drawn from across the social science spectrum for making a 'signifiant contribution' to the social sciences and is conferred by nomination and peer group review.

Fiona WishladeChair of Council, Professor Cary Cooper, said, "I am delighted that we are able to confer the award on such a significant number of distinguished new Academicians. The social sciences have a vital contribution to make towards some of the big issues facing society today, such as sustainability, crime, communities and individual fulfilment and well-being. Conferment of the award will give confidence that the contributions made by Academicians to knowledge production and transfer are well founded, because they are based on rigorous peer group review of the available Fiona Wishladeevidence."

Academicians are conferred twice a year and there are 600 individual academicians.
