SBS sets up junior advisory board

Pupils involved in group work presentations

Strathclyde Business School has set up a Junior Advisory Board in a bid to ascertain the views of potential students.

Participating Glasgow schools are Notre Dame, Williamwood, St Aloysius, St Ninians and Shawlands Academy, with 11 fifth and sixth year students taking part. The first meeting was on December 16 and was chaired by Professor Val Belton with other staff members and SBS student ambassadors acting as facilitators during the group work.

The board meeting looked at why students consider studying business, what attracts students to undergraduate programmes at certain universities, where they find information about courses, and what influence different media have in the decision-making process.

SBS Dean, Professor Susan Hart, said, "The first meeting of the Junior Advisory Board went very well, and all those involved from SBS were impressed and delighted at the levels of maturity, confidence and enthusiasm from the pupils, and are grateful for the insights into their aspirations and expectations.

"We received positive feedback from participating schools, and are glad that the schools and individual pupils found it equally of value."
