Strathclyders speaking at the Scottish Parliament

Professor Peter McGregor (Economics/FAI) and Ursula Kelly (Information Services) were invited to address the December meeting of the Scottish Parliament Cross-Party Group on Scottish Universities. The meeting focussed on the economic impact of Scottish higher education.

Peter McGregor presented some of the latest work being undertaken at Strathclyde on modelling the economic impact of higher education. This included showing how it is possible to analyse the impact on Scotland of public expenditure on higher education compared with other types of public expenditure.

Ursula Kelly gave an overview of the diverse income and revenue sources of Scottish universities and an update on the current research being undertaken within the Strathclyde-led ESRC /Funding Council research programme into higher education's social and economic role.
