Department of Management retirement

Dr Tom Mullen, senior lecturer in the Department of Management, took early retirement at the end of December after 31 years with the University. Following an early career in industry, Dr Mullen originally joined the University as a Research Fellow in Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management.

He progressed through a number of roles including, for many years, the management of the Technology and Business Studies cross-faculty degree programme. He then moved into the Graduate Business School, publishing several papers in operations scheduling and carrying out teaching and consultancy work with a number of corporate clients. He taught on MBA UK and International programmes from 1982 and in recent years he has played a central role in the delivery of the Business School's offshore programmes, with special responsibility for MBA centres in Bahrain, Oman, Zurich and Athens.

There was a formal presentation to mark his retirement on January 25 attended by many friends and colleagues.
