Marketing, Italian-style

In early March of this year, fifteen students studying for either their Masters in Marketing or International Marketing at Strathclyde had the opportunity to undertake an elective subject in Venice, Italy. The course, entitled "Sector Studies - Italian Style Marketing", was run by Ca' Foscari University in Venice in conjunction with their Master in Communicazione programme. In exchange, a similar number of Italian students came to Glasgow to study Sports Marketing the following week.

Both courses took place over a week and comprised of a combination of lectures and visits to local companies. Companies taking part in Italy included Illy coffee, the Sixty fashion group, Ferrari, Maserati and Geox. A similar format was organised for Italian students visiting Glasgow, the highlights including sessions run by Celtic FC and the Scottish Rugby Union. Courses in both Venice and Glasgow were enthusiastically received and it is hoped to run similar elective courses next year.
