Andrea Coulson - Spotlight

Dr Andrea Coulson is a senior lecturer in accounting at Strathclyde. Her research and teaching interests lie in environmental accounting and accounting for risk. In particular, Dr Coulson has conducted research on environmental risk and liabilities with the banking sector for over ten years. She has a PhD focusing on Corporate Environmental Performance Considerations within Bank Lending Processes and has conducted extensive research on this subject under commissions including the Economic and Social Research Council (UK), F&C Asset Management, Lloyds TSB Group, the Scottish Executive, UNCTAD, UNEP Financial Institutions Initiatives and UniCredit Group.

Dr Coulson has worked as a consultant to the United Nations developing and delivering workshops on environmental accounting and risk assessment in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and South America.

Most recently, Dr Coulson has been appointed as the new Chair of ACCA's (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) Social and Environmental Committee, taking over from Professor Jan Bebbington from St Andrews University. The Social and Environmental Committee was formed in September 1999. Its aim is to bring together key players in the environmental and social fields to promote the most pressing and relevant issues of the day with respect to the accountancy profession.
