Grants for PhD Marketing Students

Two PhD students of the Department of Marketing, Jillian Ney and Laila Kasem, were recently awarded grants to facilitate their attendance at prestigious international conferences.

Jillian Ney was awarded one of two Liam Glynn Research Scholarships offered in association with the Arizona State University's Centre for Services Leadership and the Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) of the American Marketing Association. The $500 scholarship award assisted with costs of attending the SERVSIG Doctoral Consortium of the 19th Annual Frontiers in Service Conference held in Karlstad, Sweden.

Laila Kasem was also selected to receive a travel stipend award of US $750 for the Doctoral Colloquium of the prestigious Academy of International Business (AIB) Annual Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 2010. She also recently received a fellowship from the International Entrepreneurship (IE)-scholars network to cover the participation fee and travel costs (up to $CAN 500) for the doctoral colloquium of the 13th annual McGill conference on International Entrepreneurship, which will be held in September 17-19, 2010 at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
