Professor in Empirical Finance recruited

Following news in June that the Department of Accounting and Finance had secured funding from the university for a new Professor in Empirical Finance under the John Anderson Research Leaders Programme, the Department can now announce that Professor Krishna Paudyal has accepted the position.

Professor Paudyal is currently Professor of Finance at Leeds University. He has been there since 2008 when he moved from his then post as Professor of Finance at Durham University.

At Leeds, Professor Paudyal also holds the post of Director of Research within Accounting and Finance and a member of the Leeds University Business Research Committee. He is also a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.

Professor Paudyal has links with Strathclyde stretching back to when he did his Masters and Doctorate here in 1987 and 1990 respectively, and was also employed as a postdoctoral research fellow within the Department of Accounting and Finance from 1991-1993.

He was ranked within the top 3% of finance academics in the world for finance research publications by J.L.Heck and P.L.Cooley (2009) in 'Most Prolific Authors in the Finance Literature: 1959-2008'
