IMP conference will be focal point for 40th anniversary celebrations

The Department of Marketing is to host the 27th Industrial Marketing and Purchasing (IMP) conference next year, from August 31-September 3.

At this year's conference in Budapest, academic staff had to deliver their own papers as well as informing all conference participants about the theme and venue for next year to try to encourage as many as possible to attend what will be a focal point for the department's 40th anniversary celebrations.

There was a strong presence at the conference backed by support from the Dean, Professor Susan Hart, while Glasgow City Marketing Bureau provided material for the department's display. There was also a local piper in full Scottish regalia who played at the conference banquet dinner.

The conference team for the 2011 IMP Conference is headed by Professor Stan Paliwoda who has been an IMP conference organiser on two previous occasions. The team also includes Professor John Finch, Dr Juliette Wilson, Dr Eleanor Shaw, Professor Hart, Dr Michael Marck, Dr Beverly Wagner, Conor Horan, a part time PHD student with Professor Finch, who has experience of organising a previous IMP conference in Dublin, and Mrs Jan Whiteford, who will be the conference administrator and has had experience of hosting a previous EMAC (European Marketing Academy) Conference at Strathclyde.
