Marketing academics attend Consumer Research conference

Several academics from the Marketing Department delivered papers at the Association for Consumer Research conference which took place from October 7-10 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr Kathy Hamilton and Paul Hewer's paper was entitled, "On Consuming Celebrities: The Case of the Kylie E-Community" while Leighanne Higgins and Dr Hamilton presented on "Sacred Places: An Exploratory investigation of Consuming Pilgrimage".

Dr Aliakbar Jafari, Pauline Maclaran (Royal Holloway University) and Babak Taheri's paper, "The Flow of Cosmetic Routines in Iran" examined the consumption of cosmetics among young Iranian women. In his second paper entitled "Globalisation Tug-of-War: Consumption as a site of conflict", co-authored by Christina Goulding (Coventry University), Dr Jafari talked about the consumer's cultural reflexivity in the context of globalisation.
