Blogging prize aids doctoral research

Jillian Ney (Department of Marketing) was recently the lucky winner of an international blogging competition run by Mashable, the online social media news specialists. Her prize was an all-access pass worth over £1,000 to the 2010 BlogWorld and New Media Expo, in Las Vegas between October 14 and 16.

She said, "I spent three amazing days networking with some of the key international social media influencers, brands, and attendees seeking to learn more about the new media world.

"This was an invaluable experience and has greatly assisted in my doctoral research regarding new media use in a purchase decision. I would like to thank Mashable for my ticket and the Department of Marketing for their support. The depth of knowledge of keynote speakers and panellists was helpful not only in my doctoral studies but to gain insight on the practical vocational side of social media."
