Knowledge Transfer Partnership project for Management Science department

The Department of Management Science, in collaboration with colleagues at Edinburgh University, began a new Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Scottish Water in September.

Two KTP Associates have been recruited to the Strategic Analysis team within the Asset Strategy function at Scottish Water. The goal of the project is to develop an expenditure optimisation tool for planning varied, competing and interconnected capital and operational requirements over a short, medium and long-term planning horizon that will use information from mathematical models of degradation that will be developed to forecast performance of Scottish Water's key asset groups.

This project builds on research undertaken in Risk and Reliability by Professor Lesley Walls, Professor John Quigley, Dr Matthew Revie and Professor Tim Bedford and an MSc Operational Research graduate, Graeme Blair, has been appointed as one of the KTP Associates.
