Marketing 2011 website goes live

The Department of Marketing has launched a dedicated website to promote events marketing the Department's 40th anniversary celebrations next year.

The website, "Marketing 2011: 40 years of pioneering leadership" has been designed to highlight an innovative programme of events in 2011 starting with an 'unveiling of the banner' ceremony in January.

Scheduled events will celebrate the department's proud history of excellence and leadership in teaching, learning and research, encouraging the department's global family to come together to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements spanning four decades.

Visitors to the website will be able to access information about the social and academic programme planned for 2011, register their interest in specific Marketing 2011 activities such as the Stenhouse homecoming weekend of June 10-12, add messages of goodwill, access departmental photos from past years and find out about alumni chapter events.

Alumni and former staff will also be able to provide short biographical information to help the department feature the hugely significant contribution they have made and are continuing to make around the world.

Commenting on the year ahead, Professor Kevin Ibeh, head of the Department of Marketing, said, "This 40th anniversary milestone offers a great opportunity to us all, members of the Marketing Department's family, to reconnect and reflect on how far we've come, to celebrate our achievements, and to recommit to the challenge of enhancing the department's proud heritage and its finer traditions. The new website will act as both a focal point and an inspirational resource in the build up to what will be a very important year in the department's history."

The website also provides a gateway to the rapidly-expanding Marketing 2011 LinkedIn group where, so far, over 700 members have created a vibrant online community devoted to making the year a huge success.
