Dr Calvin Burns, Director of PgDip/MSc in HRM, Stella Stern, Professor Dennis Nickson
Stella Stern, a recent graduate from the Department of Human Resource Management, won the Graduate of the Year award at the HR Network (Scotland) National Awards. Stella, who graduated from the MSc in Human Resource Management, won the award for work undertaken as part of her Management Research Report. The report considered some of the challenges of cultural differences in Scottish Power. Following completion of her MSc Stella subsequently joined Scottish Power working on a variety of projects including global recruitment for Scottish Power's Offshore Wind Business and a Cultural Awareness Programme in the company.
Stella was presented with the award at the HR Network (Scotland) National Awards Dinner held at the Hilton Hotel and attended by HR professionals from across Scotland. Commenting on the award, Professor Dennis Nickson, Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, said, 'This is an excellent achievement for Stella, for which she deserves great praise. The award also reflects very well on the Department. There were over 700 guests from the Scottish HR community at the awards dinner and it was very pleasing for the Department to be portrayed in such a positive light'.
