Ocean energy presentation at Bilbao

Michelle Gilmartin from the Fraser of Allander Institute presented at the International Conference on Ocean Energy in Bilbao in October. Her paper, entitled "The formation of a domestic and international market for tidal energy: the UK economic impact", is part of a wider project on the economics of marine energy, which is funded by the SuperGen Marine Energy Research Consortium and the EPSRC.

Ongoing research for the SuperGen project at the Institute includes: macroeconomic impact analyses for marine energy scenarios; calculating the financial and social costs and benefits of wave and tidal energy installations; and portfolio theory applications to quantify the contribution that wave and tidal energy can make to a broader portfolio of electricity generation in the UK.
