Increased interest for MBA Fair in 2011

The fourth annual Scottish MBA Careers Fair, jointly held by Strathclyde Business School and the University of Edinburgh Business School will be held on February 4 in Edinburgh. MBA and business masters students from throughout Scotland and North of England are eligible to attend to meet with a range of company representatives interested in recruiting business postgraduate students.

It is also an opportunity for students to discuss not just recruitment opportunities, but potential projects, dissertation topics and internships. The event is supported by CBI Scotland and companies attending this year include Accenture, Amazon, BAE Systems, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Scottish Investment Operations and Standard Life.

Marketed as a niche and specifically targeted event, the Fair has attracted around 300 MBAs and selected, experienced MScs each year.

Irene Aitkenhead Taylor, SBS Career and Corporate Development Manager, who initiated the Fair in 2008, said, "Last year we managed to maintain company numbers despite a challenging job market. This year, we have seen increased interest from companies, which is an encouraging sign for the job market as a whole. Being proactive with events such as these maximises opportunities for students, and maintaining corporate relationships - through the Fair, projects, profiles and guest speaker events - is our aim at all times."

The fair takes place at Edinburgh Business School, 29 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh, from 11am to 3pm. For more information, email Irene Aitkenhead Taylor at i.aitkenheadtaylor@strath.ac.uk. See also http://www.strath.ac.uk/mbafair/.
