Dance fundraiser for SBS advisory board member

SBS advisory board member, Lena Wilson, is taking part in a gala fundraising dance event in her capacity as an ambassador for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. The competition – (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing - will see Lena dance the tango with partner Graham McKellar alongside five other couples from the worlds of celebrity and business.

The other competitors dancing with their Scottish professional partners are: actress Kathleen McDermott Carberry, Clyde 1's Romeo, Scottish footballer Gordon Smith, Scottish event rider Nicola Malcolm, and Hilton Area Manager and fellow Hospice Ambassador, Craig Gardner.

The event will take place on April 2 in front of 800 people with the aim of raising funds for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. The main way to raise funds is through a text voting system. This opened on midnight on Monday 28 February and closes on Saturday 2nd April 2011.

Lena is hoping that everyone connected to Strathclyde Business School will be willing to vote for her - if so, text "Dance L" to 70100 and your vote will be counted.

Each text vote costs £1+ your standard network rate. Of this, the £1 donation goes directly to supporting the work of the Hospice.

A reading of the votes will be taken at 5pm on the evening of 2nd April before the event itself begins. After the count is taken the couple with the most votes will be allocated 6 points, 2nd highest will be 5 points etc down to 1. This will then be added to the public vote by the guests on the night.

This will then determine the 2 couples in the dance off who will dance again and the final decision will be with the panel of judges with the head judge having the final say should it come to a tie break.

The event takes place in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, and Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite from the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing will be performing a show dance. Carol Smillie and Angus Purden are hosting the event.
