Finance student presented workshop on virtual trading platform

The very successful "Game 2 Learn" conference took place in Dundee on Friday March 18, organised by Learning and Teaching Scotland. Focused on the use of new technologies and gaming as part of the teaching process, it allowed government delegates and teachers to discover new ways to engage and fascinate students.

The day was divided into several keynote speeches and workshops. Paul Blumenfeld, a second year BA Hons Finance student at Strathclyde Business School presented a workshop on behalf of the University to explain the use of a virtual trading platform as part of his Financial Markets and Banking class run by Professor David Hillier of the Department of Accounting and Finance.

Both engaging and informative, the workshop was centred around a trading competition, and a "hands-on" demonstration of the Virtual Trader platform used in class. How these platforms can help in any type of university curriculum and further the students' employer attractiveness was also a focus of the workshop.

Both organisers and attendees alike were not only impressed by the quality of the workshop itself, but also by the new teaching possibilities that virtual trading platforms can offer. As a pioneer in this field, Strathclyde Business School has positioned itself as a front runner in discovering new ways to bring more technology to the curriculum.
