Ernst & Young, one of the most successful professional services firms in the world, traditionally sponsors a prize for the best team project and presentation in Management Development Programme (MDP) 3. Students during semester one researched a significant social-ethical issue in a selected organisation and, as internal consultants, presented their recommendations for action.

The top three teams, selected from 463 students, presented to staff at the Ernst & Young Glasgow Office on Wednesday, February 9.

Dr Viktor Dorfler, Director of MDP, said, "Congratulations to the students who participated in this final round -around 3% of all students in MDP3. All three teams presented professionally and confidently, handling difficult questions and demonstrating their understanding of the role of ethical action/behaviors in business in the 21st century."

Ernst & Young employee, Linda Sloan, commented that 'We, at Ernst & Young, are proud to support the innovative Management Development Programme which enables students to enhance their skills and employability. We are continually impressed by the work which is presented year on year and we are delighted to provide the opportunity for students to visit our Glasgow office and meet some of the people who work in our organisation. The skills which the programme develops are critical for effective working in a graduate role and are strongly valued by a graduate recruiter such as Ernst & Young'.

The first prize was awarded to team 1C for their report/presentation entitled 'Facebook: Ethics and Responsibility'. The winning team consisted of Darren Meldrum, Ainslie McCulloch, Leanne Russell, Scott Sandison, Sophie Norris and Michael Paterson.

The two teams sharing second place were: team 3E (Amy Andrews, Yuhong Li, Darren McCallum, Louisa Murray, Elaine Paterson, and Xiaron Qi) whose presentation related to Debenhams and 'issues surrounding negative body image', and team 4B (Gemma Berry, Yushi Feng, Laura Hendrie, Callum Moorhead, Catherine Youden and Yaning Zhang), who presented on BP and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
