Hunter Centre professor 'in the news'

Professor Colin Mason of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship has been sought out by the media in recent months. He was invited by the Editor of Enterprising Scotland to contribute an ‘instant’ reaction to the March Budget. His view was that with its focus on start-ups and Enterprise Zones the Budget was a throw-back to the early 1980s. (SEE http://www.enterprisingscotland.com/ )

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph a few days after the Budget (29 March), he criticised the government’s focus on promoting start-ups which was announced in the Budget. Based on research that he undertook last year for Scottish Enterprise, Professor Mason argued that the focus should be on fostering more fast-growth firms.

In April he was invited by Scottish Business Insider to take part in a round table debate on growth in the downturn. A summary appeared in the May edition (http://www.business7.co.uk/insider-magazine/ ). And finally, Professor Mason started as a regular columnist for Start Your Own Business magazine with an article on financial bootstrapping in the May edition (http://www.sybmagazine.com/ ).
