Procter & Gamble 2011 Prize for MDP 2

Procter & Gamble, one of the world's most dynamic companies, renowned for its innovative product technology, business approaches, leadership and vision, traditionally sponsors a prize for the best Decision Making group project and presentation in Management Development Programme (MDP) 2.

The top three teams - Teams 3B, 5A and 11B, selected from 530 students - had a great opportunity to present their ideas for a potential business enterprise linked to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games to Procter & Gamble representatives Zara Waddell and Kevin O'Leary on April 6.

Dr Viktor Dorfler, Director of MDP, said, "Congratulations to the students who participated in this final round - less than 3% of all students in MDP2 achieved this. All three teams presented professionally and confidently; and they provided solid foundations for their often surprising business ideas, addressing some of the most interesting and/or significant issues Glasgow is facing in relation to the Commonwealth Games and beyond."

The winners were presented with their prizes during the final MDP2 session on April 27, at which three P&G employees talked to students about how to make the most of their MDP2 experience in their CVs when applying for jobs. Zara Waddell commented, "MDP makes a real difference in employability and is largely responsible for Strathclyde being one of our number one target campuses: a 'Golden Campus' as we call them. The leadership mind-set module in MDP2 is particularly important for P&G, as from day one you will be responsible for running projects and leading your team."

Prizes were awarded to all three teams, but special congratulations go to the winners Team 11B - Siobhan Cull, Nicola McInnes, Charles Rimbaud and Alex Speers. Their project, titled "The Time aw'yer Life", made particularly good use of the multinational/multicultural composition of the team.

Congratulations also go to Team 5B (Christopher Davey, Niklas Dreiskaemper, Laura McGarvey, Catriona McTaggart, Alex Persson and Michael Thomson) for achieving second place with their project based on a tourist attraction "G Card" for Glasgow, and Team 3A (Jessica Arrowsmith, Gillian Lindsay, Heather Robertson and Ladina Zimmerman) for their third place project to improve the "biker-life" in Glasgow by introducing a city-bike scheme.
