Oman alumni association holds first reunion

The Strathclyde Oman Alumni Association held its first reunion in April at the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS).

The alumni board and its sub committees, with the support of the College of Banking, have achieved a number of impressive milestones and have experienced continued success with professional development and learning exchange programs. These milestones and accomplishments have contributed to reconnect and solidify the alumni association's commitment to research and social responsibility.

The reunion ceremony was the first of its kind and was attended by Dr Ashraf Nabhani, dean of CBFS, Professor Colin Eden, Associate Dean and Director of the International Division, and Dr Jayaram Nahay, director of postgraduate studies at CBFS.

Also in attendance were Strathclyde alumni and other distinguished senior guests from the banking and corporate sectors.

There are more than 180 University of Strathclyde MBA members currently serving the Sultanate at mid and senior level positions in various leading organisations.

"The alumni association is close to our hearts," said Abdullah Al Suleimany, Chairman of the Alumni Association, in his opening speech. "We are the link between academia and the corporate world, especially through the work of our sub committees, which include Research, Social Work, Career Elevation, and Events. These sub committees, along with many other development activities in which the alumni association is involved, are all important ways to groom and develop the future of our fellow students and recent graduates, and we are here to assist in any which way we can."

The aim of the alumni association is to invest in various voluntary social activities and build a strong network to further improve social development and to reconnect and solidify research and social responsibility.
