Keynote speech at international conference on Iran

Dr Aliakbar Jafari from the Department of Marketing delivered a keynote speech at the Iran and Global Scientific Exchange Conference in Wales on June 12. Given the fact that Iran has achieved the highest growth rate of knowledge production in the world since 1990, this international conference - which was organised by the Scientific Representative of Iran in the UK and Ireland - sought to review and enhance Iran's current academic exchange strategies with the rest of the world.

In his speech, Dr Jafari highlighted the significance of self-reflexivity and self-critique in knowledge production in different areas of social sciences in Iran as well as other transitional economies. He called for further policy-oriented interdisciplinary research and stressed that multifaceted development projects in developing countries highly depend on support from states in order to implement the findings of research in different areas of social sciences.
