Dean appointed at Strathclyde SKIL Business School

The Dean of Strathclyde SKIL Business School - a joint initiative by Strathclyde Business School and Indian infrastructure pioneer SKIL Infrastructure Limited with its campus in Greater Noida, India - has been named as Professor Bhimaraya Metri.

Professor Metri will be responsible for providing academic leadership to the Strathclyde SKIL Business School as well as contributing to the overall leadership of the business school at faculty level that includes effective management of resources in alignment with the business school's strategic plan, supporting, developing and enhancing teaching, learning along with research and knowledge exchange activities.

Commenting on his appointment, Professor Metri said, "It is an honour to be associated with such an innovative business school such as Strathclyde. I am looking forward to the first academic session at the India campus. This joint initiative will go a long way in shaping young minds in India by providing them with a global outlook and an international curriculum in post graduate management education."

The first academic session of Strathclyde SKIL Business School (SSBS) will commence from September 2011, offering a postgraduate degree course in Management that has already received accreditation from AMBA, the world's impartial authority on postgraduate management education.

Mr Nikhil Gandhi, Group Chairman, SKIL, said, "Professor Metri is a visionary academic leader and we expect him to bring a global outlook, a strong appetite for innovation, and a well-refined view of the attributes a leading business school requires for the teaching and research relevant to the students of the 21st century."

Prior to joining Strathclyde SKIL Business School, Professor Metri held numerous academic leadership positions, including Chairman Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), Dean (Academics) and Dean (Graduate Programmes) at Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon. He has also served at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani.

In addition, Professor Metri has published over 90 research articles in international and national journals and proceedings. He is on several editorial advisory boards of national and international journals. He has taught courses across MDI's post graduate programmes, fellow programme in management and executive education programmes. He has also consulted widely on Quality Management, Benchmarking, Balanced Scorecard, Supply Chain Management and ERP for several leading public sector and private sector manufacturing and service organisations and government departments.

Professor Metri has directed and delivered a number of Management Development Programmes for senior executives in leading organisations.

Strathclyde SKIL Business School campus is located at Greater Noida. The two year Masters in Management (MiM) programme that will commence in September this year has received AMBA accreditation in its own right.
