Accounting and finance executive training programme

The Accounting and Finance department ran a successful executive training programme for Community Energy Scotland, a community-based organisation which provides practical help for communities on green energy development.

Community Energy Scotland helps groups develop projects which improve their community, generate power and gain income for further community development. It supports groups in order to strengthen their capacity to take projects forward, and it has created a network of development officers to deliver this support.

Aside from the training aspects of the course, the participants and the academic staff involved – Professor Christine Cooper, Ian Thomson, Dr Patrick McColgan and Martin Kemmitt from SBS, and Geoffrey Whittam from University of West of Scotland – exchanged knowledge and ideas and it is hoped to maintain and build upon this exchange in the future.
