Marketing researcher joins Social Media Week advisory board

Doctoral researcher, Jillian Ney, of Strathclyde Business School's Department of Marketing has been named as an advisory board member to Glasgow's upcoming Social Media Week (SMW). With a mission of exploring how local and regional societies, cultures, and economies are becoming more integrated and empowered through a global network of communication, thirteen global cities will play host to SMW from September 19 to 23.

Through her doctoral research on social media Jillian is well placed on the board and is also involved in several of her own events during social media week. She sits in good company with Equator's marketing director, Martin Jordan; Tom Rice, the head of marketing for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau; Richard Moir; the technical director for Cisco Systems; Dougal Perman of Inner Jillian NeyEar; Mark Buckland the managing director of Cargo Publishing; Colin Gilchrist, social media strategist at Digital Face; Samantha Sheridan of CitizenM Hotels; Brian Hughes co-founder of Kiltr; Ross McCulloch founder of The Third Sector Labs; Stuart MacKenzie media officer at Sport Scotland; Mark Calpin the general manager of Holiday Inn Express Motherwell; and finally, Daniela Castrataro and Tim Wright from Twintangibles and Arvind Salwan from New Media Corp who won the bid for Glasgow to host SMW.

With a diverse range of over thirty events already planned during SMW Glasgow, the event is sure to be a huge success.
