International Business first cohort graduates

Strathclyde Business School saw the first cohort of its youngest degree – International Business – graduate with flying colours. Of the 44 students in the group, 4 achieved a 1st Class honours degree, namely, Gillian Fitzpatrick, Martin Gannon, Jacqueline Harris and James McCann. A further 34 students achieved a 2(i) classification and 6 students a 2(ii) classification. Well done to the class of 2011.

The International Business degree, which was launched in 2007, has grown substantially since its inception with numbers exceeding the 100 mark in 2009. Students are clearly attracted by the opportunity provided within the curriculum to spend part of their studies at one of SBS' partner universities across the world, not only enabling students to experience a different culture but also a different approach to international learning.

Students on the programme spent a memorable academic study period overseas in institutions from Canada and the USA to Singapore, Hong Kong and Europe. All agreed that this had been a life changing opportunity to live and study overseas which prepared them well for their future career in International Business.

In other graduation news, Professor Anthony Clunies-Ross, founder of the International Business and Modern Languages degree, presented graduating students Lauren O'Hare and Kyle Watt with a silver Quaich. Both students achieved a First Class Honours degree after completing their five year programme. Lauren and Kyle spent the fourth year of their programme studying in France, which enhanced their understanding of international business. The essence of the degree, which was founded in 1990, is to enable students to learn in a multi- cultural environment, whilst developing their language skills.
