Short-listed teams for the first year Management Development Programme at Strathclyde Business School, made their presentations on June 2 to representatives of Deloitte, the largest global professional services firm, who, as in previous years, sponsored a prize for the best Holiday Project report and presentation in MDP1 for this academic year.

The top three teams, selected from over 500 students in MDP 1 had the opportunity to give their presentations on starting up a holiday company to a group of representatives from Deloitte in their Glasgow office in George Square.

Dr Viktor Dorfler, Director of MDP, said, "Congratulations to the students who made it to the final round – less than 3% of all students in MDP1 achieved this. All three teams presented professionally and confidently; and they provided solid foundations for their sometimes surprising business ideas, addressing at the same time, some of the most burning issues in society today."

Prizes were awarded to all three teams, but special congratulations go to the winners – Team 10B, consisting of Eilidh Buchanan, Robert Duncan, Cara Easton, Jordan Reid and Harriet Steele – for their presentation on Easidays, their holiday company offering specially adapted camping and caravanning holidays for those with disabilities/learning difficulties and their families/carers. Each member of the winning team received a £50 gift voucher.

The runners-up also received gift vouchers. They were Team 7F – Claire Gallagher, Rebecca Walker, Sarah Best, Harry Stone, Scott Barrie – who introduced their 'UKation' project, which would provide support for backpackers to minimise their risk while retaining essential freedom, and Team 5E – Alison Gardiner, Gillian Jaffrey, Tiago Lopes, Edward Slater, Justin Slater and Roxanne Steyn – who developed their 'Vocation/Vacation' idea, providing a mix of the services of a travel agency and employment agency.
