International Advisory Group role for Economics professor

Professor Robert Wright, Department of Economics, has been appointed to the International Advisory Group (IAG) of the Academy of Social Sciences. The main aim of the IAG is consider how to extend the Academy's reach outside the UK by developing an international strategy and advising members on priorities and their implementation.

This will include adding an international focus to the Academy's mission statement, extending international membership, developing the Academy membership of selected international organisations, drawing on linkages to international organisations through Academy members, contributing to the development of international standards (professional and ethical), developing opportunities for international researcher mobility and exploring opportunities to support development initiatives for social science researchers embarking on international careers.

Professor Wright believes that there is a natural synergy between the activities of the IAG and the activities of Economic and Social Research Council's International Committee, of which he is also a member.
