Young Enterprise Scotland – volunteer business advisors wanted

The Department of Marketing has had a long and close link to Young Enterprise Scotland which exists to develop entrepreneurial skills in students in schools across Scotland. Professor Stan Paliwoda is currently Young Enterprise Dunbartonshire Area Board Member. Over the course of one academic year (particularly September to April), students are asked to form a company and then to bring their product or service to market. They have the help of a teacher who may not be a specialist in business studies so volunteer business advisors are being sought. Ideally, each student company should have at least two business advisors but there are currently shortages of business advisors all over Scotland.

The requirements are typically for one hour per fortnight or weekly if time permits with the Young Enterprise company (during or after school). Geographical preferences can be accommodated in matching business advisors with schools but as you will be working with children in their last year of school, it is necessary for a Disclosure check to be made on all Business Advisors. More information can be found on the website or contact Jack Rudram, 07901 515208.
