Academy of Management conference

Academics from across Strathclyde Business School attended the Academy of Management conference (August 12-16) in San Antonio, USA.

Professor Colin Eden and Professor Fran Ackermann, together with Kevin Page, won the George L Graziado Award for the Most Outstanding Practice-Based Paper. Their paper was entitled, "Leading Strategy Making: Facilitating Commitment to Strategy".

Professors Eden and Ackermann also led various workshops, including, "Professional Development workshop - Collecting, Developing, and Using Group Cognition". Professor Ackermann led "A practical Guide to Causal Mapping" and "Cognition in the Rough."

Other attendees included Professor Peter McKiernan (Department of Management) and Professor Dora Scholarios (Human Resource management). Professor Scholarios presented a joint paper written with her PhD student, Belgin Okay, as part of a symposium called Strategies for Sustaining Employability Throughout Careers. The paper was called 'Skills and perceived employability in graduate occupations' and was based on Belgin's PhD research.
