Grant Allan (Research Fellow in the Fraser of Allander Institute, Department of Economics) gave an invited presentation to the economists and statisticians at the Scottish Government on August 26.
Mr Allan presented an evaluation of the accuracy of economic growth forecasts for Scotland, produced by the Fraser of Allander Institute between 2000 and 2011. The presentation was entitled "How wrong were we?" and the full paper will be published in the Fraser Economic Commentary later this year.
The Scottish economic growth forecasts published by the Fraser of Allander Institute are the only independent forecasts for Scotland featured in the "State of the Economy" report, produced regularly by the Scottish Government's Chief Economic Advisor.
