Visiting professor at Accounting and Finance

Professor Aracéli Cristina de Sousa Ferreira, Visiting Professor and International Student Advisor visited the Accounting and Finance Department on September 5 and 6 before attending the CSEAR conference in St Andrews.

Professor Ferreira has extensive, international experience in the area of social and environmental accounting research. Her CV shows an impressive list of research grants and publications and a range of senior management positions and teaching experience within her University. Her esteem is highlighted by her advisory role to the United Nations' International Standards on Accounting and Reporting Group through which she originally established links with the University of Strathclyde when joining Dr Andrea Coulson to engage in a specialist environmental accounting work stream. Professor Ferreira was also a member of the Brazilian Accounting Board's Committee tasked with the evaluation of the environmental and social responsibilities of Brazilian companies. The importance of her role on this Committee was highlighted by her appointment as the coordinator of a sub-committee designated to elaborate the drafting of national rules on environmental accounting and carbon credits.
