An event organised by the Strathclyde UAE Alumni group involving dinner and speakers took place on October 24, with a high turn-out of over 100 participants – the largest attendance ever at a Dubai alumni event.
The keynote speakers were: Marc Mulder and Erwin De Wijs, joint managing partners, Wise & Miller, an executive search and consultancy, who spoke on career and placement guidance; and Suhas Prabhu, regional customer service director, Dorma Gulf Door Controls, who spoke on 'moving up the ladder' – a personal experience of networking. Suhas is an MBA alumnus from UAE who started as an assistant sales engineer in India before moving to Dubai and rapidly rising in the last ten years in various companies with job titles including Area Sales Manager, Asst. Marketing Manager, Marketing Manager, General Manager, Head of Regional Division & finally the Regional Director level. He credits most of his success to networking and perseverance.
All 118 attendees had ample opportunity to network and meet fellow Strathclyde UAE alumni at the event which took place at the Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai.
