Tribute event for HRM professor

A commemoration event for the late professor John Gennard (1944-2011) will take place in the New Year.

When Professor Gennard, Human Resource Management Department, passed away earlier this year, the trade union and labour movement lost a true friend. His commitment to bettering the lives of working people was an inspiration.

His friends and colleagues were keen to pay fitting tribute to his considerable influence and, as a result, Unite the Union and the University of Strathclyde have organised an event to celebrate his life and achievements.

The commemoration will take place on Friday, January 20, 2012, at 2.30pm at Unite the Union, John Smith House, 145-165 West Regent Street, Glasgow.

Friends and colleagues from his trade union and academics worlds are welcome to attend, with those attending welcome to share memories of and stories about Professor Gennard. His wife, Anne, and former General Secretaries John Monks (TUC & ETUC) and Tony Dubbins (GPMU) will be among those present.

Anyone who would like to attend should contact Debbie Campbell by email.
