'Secret Millionaire' coming to Strathclyde Business School

Gordon McAlpine, self-made millionaire who featured in Channel 4's Secret Millionaire documentary series, will be giving an inspirational talk about his success in the business world at Strathclyde on March 5.

Glasgow-born Gordon, a Strathclyde Business School alumnus, has an inspirational story to tell about how he became a successful entrepreneur starting his business - fast growth technology company BigHand – from the living room of a Docklands flat, never borrowing a penny from the bank and eventually selling the business in a highly successful MBO in 2006.

Following the successful sale of BigHand, Gordon founded The Sales Club, the world's first cross-sector networking forum for sales leaders, of which he is now CEO.

Gordon will also be sharing insights from his experience in The Secret Millionaire when he returned to Glasgow in 2010 where he was placed in the heart of Govan to meet local volunteers and contribute towards their projects.

The Strathclyde marketing graduate has over 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, spanning large corporations, including pharmaceutical giant Astra Zeneca, and smaller entrepreneurial enterprises.

Gordon's talk, "Entrepreneurship – the achievable dream," will take place in the Court Senate at 5.30pm, with registration from 5pm.

The event has been organised for MBA and Marketing postgraduate students within the business school. Places are now very limited and any enquiries should go to sarah.poulter@strath.ac.uk.
