Inaugural photography competition run by students

Galleria winner: ‘Snowy Barony Hall Through my Window’ by Nina Dalia Milan

MBM students Anket Mohanty and Amit Chordia instigated an initiative this year for all current postgraduate students - the inaugural Strath Galleria photography competition. The competition was an open submission photography competition for all current postgraduate students of SBS, both in Glasgow and at our overseas centres.

The concept conceived by the MBM students was to capture, via digital media, a visual interpretation of what studying at Strathclyde Business School meant to the students. This could involve using a variety of digital media and techniques, or a simple 'decisive moment' approach, which allowed students a free rein on creativity.

There were three distinct categories - Campus Life, Education, and Flavours of Scotland – and submissions were judged by a panel of judges.

SBS Dean, Professor Susan Hart, awarded the prizes on June 27, with all shortlisted images put up in gallery fashion in the Tiki Café. Congratulations go to the overall winner, MSc International Accounting & Finance student, Nina Dalia Milan with ‘Snowy Barony Hall Through my Window’. Runners up were ‘Ice Skating’ by Ishita Sharma, MSc International Marketing and ‘Peace of Mind’ by Pransu Rana, MSc Business Information & Technology Systems.

The image deemed best in each category by the panel won an iPod Touch and the overall winner out of all categories received an iPad 2.

All entries are available to view on the SBS Facebook page.
