Strathclyde sponsors referendum talks

As the 2014 Scottish referendum approaches, Glasgow-based charity INSP (International Network of Street Papers) is to hold a two-part conversation series with high-profile representatives from both sides of the independence debate as part of The Herald/Fraser of Allander Institute.

Strathclyde Business School is the main sponsor for the two-part conversation series featuring Alex Salmond, Jon Snow and Alistair Darling.

Strathclyde University is sponsoring the event and providing the Barony as the venue for the two events. The first event – on November 23 at the Barony at 7.30pm - will feature First Minister Alex Salmond in conversation with Channel 4 News presenter and INSP Ambassador Jon Snow. As well as the issue of independence, the discussion will also cover the issues of social justice and media independence, as well as some more general questions about the First Minister himself and will be followed by questions from the floor.

The second event will feature former Chancellor and "Better Together" leader Alistair Darling on December 6 and details of that will be released nearer the time.

The Herald-Fraser of Allander Lecture series has established a reputation for dealing head on with major issues of national and international importance, and this series will make a major contribution to the independence debate as plans for the referendum get underway.

Tickets for both events will be available soon and if you are interested in attending, and would like to know when they become available, please email events@street-papers.org to register your interest.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the work of INSP, alleviating poverty and supporting street papers in Scotland and around the world.
