Guest speaker talk on 'reinventing' hotels

Michael Levie, founding partner and chief executive of citizenM Hotels, was the speaker at the Sir Hugh Wontner Lecture on February 27 at the Barony Hall.

Michael, a graduate of IHMI (Cornell/Essec) has worked across a portfolio of international hotel chains and in 2010, citizenM established a unique and boutique brand of affordable luxury in Glasgow when they opened their 198-room hotel. Voted the "Trendiest Hotel in the World" by TripAdvisor in both 2010 and 2011, the hotels are renowned for their innovative design and leading the way in their use of technologies.

Michael's speech, on the topic of "Reinventing hotels and offering luxury at affordable prices" was to an audience of staff, students and Trustees of the Savoy Education Trust, which supported the Sir Hugh Wontner Lecture. The Trustees had the chance to meet the students who benefited from The Savoy Education Trust Scholarships, awarded to students who have achieved academic merit.
