Awards and appointments for marketing lecturer

A journal article by Department of Marketing's Dr Aliakbar Jafari - "Globalization, reflexivity, and the project of the self: a virtual intercultural learning process" - co-authored with Professor Christina Goulding of Keele University, has won the Honourable Mention Award of Consumption, Markets and Culture for 2013.

Dr Aliakbar Jafari has been appointed as Associate Editor of Iranian Journal of Management Studies. He has also been appointed as Scientific Board Member of BrandMemo, an Italian-based global brand visibility enhancement application community.

Dr Jafari also attended the Islamic Economy and Market Workshop II held at Istanbul Sehir University, Turkey and, during his paper presentation, Dr Aliakbar Jafari was interviewed by Al Eqtisadiah TV (Saudi Arabia's Economics TV Channel).

Stressing that the essence of Islamic Economics is essentially about establishing social justice in society at large, Dr Jafari stated that the market should be seen as a socio-economic value system in which all participants have the rights and responsibilities to benefit from and contribute to all types of values that would eventually enhance quality of life for human beings. He called policy makers in Muslim geographies to avoid untamed expansion of markets without considering fair and sustainable development of market structures and organisations.
