LEO Society helped students attend referendum debate chaired by Sir Tom Hunter

The LEO (Learning and Engagement with Organisations) Society was delighted to have the opportunity to take 10 Strathclyde Business School students along to a high-profile event on the business case in relation to Scottish independence on September 2, just 16 days before the referendum.

The event was a breakfast with panel discussion, organised by Business Insider. The event was chaired by Sir Tom Hunter and the panellists were:

The discussion focused on topics of importance to the business community, such as currency, taxation, imports and exports, pensions and the potential impact on a range of industries such as tourism, energy and defence.

Attended by over 150 Scottish business leaders, the LEO Society were proud to represent Strathclyde Business School at the event. The group included a mix of undergraduate, Masters and MBA students from across SBS. The group benefited from being able to develop their networks, enhance their commercial awareness, and think critically about important issues.

LEO – the rebranded Management Consultancy Society set up by Alastair Lumsden and Kevin Krebs when in their Honours year at Strathclyde Business School - was delighted to receive support from Sir Tom and the Hunter Foundation, who, along with the Business Insider team, contributed to the costs of the LEO table. Alastair Lumsden said, "We'd like to extend special thanks to Sir Tom and the Business Insider team. The team were also able to speak with Sir Tom after the event which was a great opportunity."
