Registration open for Strathclyde Enterprise Pathway

Students are invited to take part in the Strathclyde Enterprise Pathway, with registration open from now until November 3.

Strathclyde Enterprise Pathway allows participants to develop, enhance and test their transferable skills. Learning from experienced entrepreneurs, participants will also learn key business skills and develop the confidence to tap into their entrepreneurial mind-set.

There are three stages, with stage 1 involving interactive workshops; stage 2 a two-day intensive training workshop, and stage 3 will see participants put theory into practice, going through a series of shortlisting stages including apprentice style interviews, 60 second video pitching and a final business presentation. All shortlisting is done by a number of entrepreneurs, who have previously included the likes of serial entrepreneurs Shaf Rasul, Jim McColl and Afzahl Khushi.

Upon completion of each stage of the programme, participants are eligible to receive certificates endorsed by the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE), the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Sir Tom Hunter to validate commitment and enhance CVs. These strategically enhanced partnerships provide external validation for the programme and a sense of achievement for participants after each stage is completed.

There is also a credit bearing element for researcher participants, as well as the opportunity to receive an Institute of Leadership & Management Level 2 certificate in Understanding Enterprise. Stage two (Enterprise Academy) is the only enterprise- focused training in the UK specifically for research students and staff which is professionally accredited by ILM.

For participants who wish to continue their idea following the Enterprise Pathway Programme, the University’s Enterprise Team also offer mentoring, business advice, the opportunity for free incubation office space and opportunities to tap into a larger entrepreneurial network. By instilling key entrepreneurial behaviors and values in students and researchers through a “learner–centered” approach, the Enterprise Pathway develops a culture of opportunism, creativity and risk taking, and provides students and researchers with a distinctive skillset for future employment.
