MBA students act as sounding board for entrepreneurs

A group of six full-time MBA students have been involved in advising nascent businesses in fine-tuning their pitch at Strathclyde 100 events throughout the year. Strathclyde 100 pitches focus on an 'ask' which must be non-financial but fills a vital need for the young business.

The Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network (SEN) approached the MBA class with the idea that, with their combined and varied business experience and expertise, they would provide the perfect 'sounding board' for entrepreneurs to make a first pitch to.

The MBA team, comprising those from both corporate and entrepreneurial backgrounds, advise the start-ups how to refine their pitch to get the best possible outcome when they go to meet real investors.

Those MBA students chosen to make up the sounding board were first interviewed by SEN and have provided assistance and advice throughout the year to new businesses. The sounding board can trace its start back to last year when Joshua Sauter, now enterprise advisor with Strathclyde Entrepreneurial Network, was a full-time MBA student and he and a colleague started the board in co-operation with SEN.
