Strathclyde Business Network: How companies can combine profit and purpose with Simon Erlanger from Isle of Harris Distillery.

Event Date: 8 February 2018

Where: Strathclyde Business School, Stenhouse Wing 105

Time: 6pm – 7pm, registration will start at 5.30pm.

We are delighted to welcome Simon Erlanger, Managing Director of the Isle of Harris Distillery for our event about Social Entrepreneurship.

Simon will speak about how the Isle of Harris Distillery tries to tackle challenges faced by the islands’ communities. If it’s possible to be a social company and still be profit driven? How to convert local uniqueness into an advantage. And if their take on Social Entrepreneurship could be a role model for other companies.

Simon’s career started in retail for a major UK retailer. Later he got involved in the Whiskey business where he became one of four Executive Directors at Glenmorangie and led the sales and marketing teams. Simon’s specialities are International brand development, Organisational change, Sales & negotiation, and Team leadership. He now uses his distinguished expertise to lead and manage the Isle of Harris Distillery.

The Isle of Harris Distillery is a working distillery, creating spirits for the award-winning Isle of Harris Gin and our forthcoming The Hearach Single Malt Whisky.

The Distillery opened its door in 2015 and was founded with the vision of a Social Distillery, creating a local enterprise on Harris that had the community at its heart.

After Simons presentation, there is a Q&A session for which we encourage you to come up with a lot of questions to generate a vibrant discussion.

Last but not least: there will be an opportunity to taste the outstanding Isle of Harris Gin.  If you'd like to come along to this event please register on the Strathclyde Business Network eventbrite page.
