Employee Wellbeing Before vs. During Covid-19: Evidence from Finland
Event Date: 3 February 2021
Time: 13:00 - 14:00 GMT
The Covid-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we work, requiring a wide-spread shift to homeworking that looks set to remain a feature of working life in the future. Although pre-Covid, self-determined homeworking was positively associated with employee wellbeing, the sudden requirement that many workers perform their usual roles at home poses a number of risks to wellbeing.
With a focus on Finland, this seminar will discuss changes in homeworking and teleworking, changes in working conditions, and impacts on employee experience and wellbeing.
Our key note speakers Professor Jari Hakanen and Dr Janne Kaltiainen, will draw on longitudinal survey research undertaken with employees in Finland before and then during the Covid-10 pandemic. The session will be chaired by the PrOPEL Hub’s Professor Colin Lindsay.
Professor Jari Hakanen is a Research Professor at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.
Dr Janne Kaltiainen is a Specialist Researcher at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health
Professor Colin Lindsay is a member of the PrOPEL Hub and Deputy Director of the Scottish Centre for Employment Research.
