Professor Guy Standing (SOAS) visits Strathclyde University to discuss Basic Income in a Time of Pandemics
Strathclyde Business School’s division of Work, Employment and Organisation is delighted to host Professor Guy Standing, for a seminar on ‘Battling Eight Giants: Basic Income in a Time of Pandemics’. In his talk, Guy will argue that the pandemic slump was a crisis that was waiting to happen, that this has made the global economy uniquely fragile to shocks, and will make the economic outcomes of the pandemic much worse. Guy will explain why this has turned the policy of basic income from being primarily ethical and moral to being both that and an economic imperative.
This seminar is open to all. There will be space for questions and discussion.
