The clock is ticking! COP29 in Azerbaijan and the Global Fight against the Climate Emergency

Event Date: 29 April 2024

Location: Technology and Innovation Centre

Time: 2.30-5pm

Speakers: Professor Tracy Morse, Professor Emma Macdonald, Professor Francesco Sindico

COP26, the world’s climate change conference was held in Glasgow in 2021. In 2023, COP28 was held in Dubai and the 2024 COP29 will be held in Azerbaijan.

What has happened since the last COP at the end of 2023? And what should we expect to happen at the next COP meeting in Nov-Dec 2024?

This event, run as part of Engage with Strathclyde and open to the public, will hear from COP observers and sustainability experts on the progress being made in climate change negotiations.

Experts from University of Strathclyde will provide information and context on the policy and legal background to the UNFCCC’s Paris Agreement. We will also discuss the lead up to and outcomes of COP 28 (Dubai) and key issues for COP29 in 2024.
