Abstract:

In this session, Professor Ann Langley, Deputy Editor for Qualitative Methods, Academy of Management Journal, will give a brief presentation on the journal, before opening up for questions and discussion.

The session will take the following shape:

  • Background to editorial role and journal
  • Trends and new emerging conversations
  • Threshold issues and avoiding a desk reject
  • Why of relevance to ECRs
  • Q & A
  • Summary and concluding remarks

 

The Meet the Editor series has four aims:

  • To enhance knowledge on the latest changes and developments in publishing
  • To give opportunity for SBS researchers to ask questions about research and publishing to those who make the decisions
  • To strengthen links between SBS and a range of academic journals
  • To demystify the publishing process for PGR researchers

 

Biography:

Ann Langley is Emerita Professor of Management at HEC Montréal and Distinguished Research Environment Professor at University of Warwick. Her research deals with strategic processes and practices in complex organizations with an emphasis on qualitative research methods. She is Deputy Editor of Academy of Management Journal for qualitative research, and Co-editor with Haridimos Tsoukas of the book series Perspectives on Process Organization Studies, published by Oxford University Press.

This is an informal session with opportunities for questions, discussion and reflections.
