Publishing in Top-Tier Outlets: Trials and Tribulations, Finola Kerrigan, Professor of Marketing and Deputy Dean of Birmingham Business School

Please join us as Professor Finola Kerrigan, Professor of Marketing and Deputy Dean of Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, shares her experiences as an editor versus author for world leading business journals.

Finola will contrast her experiences as editor and author. Using examples of work published with Journal of Consumer Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Academy of Management Journal, and Marketing Theory she will talk about orienting the papers towards the journals, the hurdles that she faced in each and working with the author teams.  Then switching context, she will talk about moving from author to editor for Marketing Theory, what a Marketing Theory paper should be and the editorial process.

About the Speaker:

Finola Kerrigan is Professor of Marketing and Deputy Dean of Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham.  Her research on marketing and consumer research has been published in a range of leading international journals such as Journal of Consumer Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing the Academy of Management Journal. Professor Kerrigan's research has been funded by UKRI and the British Academy.  She has specific expertise in visual research methods and qualitative research and has contributed to theoretical advances in marketing in arts and cultural sectors, branding and digital identity.
