Abstract:

In this session, Professor Fang Lee Cooke, Co-Editor in Chief of Human Resource Management, will give a brief presentation on the journal, before opening up for questions and discussion.

Human Resource Management is the premier academic journal focusing solely on the study of Human Resource Management (HRM). It publishes scholarly articles presenting cutting-edge research and thought leadership on policy, practices, trends, and issues aimed at understanding and advancing the field of HRM and, in turn, the effective utilisation of human capital and the practice of HRM in organisations. Human Resource Management seeks articles that uniquely advance and contribute to the academic literature (theoretically, empirically, and/or methodologically). In addition, in keeping with its history of bridging research and practice, submissions must also have practical significance in terms of clear implications for workforce policy or HRM practice.  It has strong global recognition and readership and is filled with conceptual and empirical articles that uniquely advance the academic literature and have clear practical implications. The journal accepts cutting-edge research and thought leadership on micro-, macro-, or multi-level phenomena relating to all HRM topics and issues and utilising the full range of perspectives and methodologies.

The session will take the following shape:

  • Background to editorial role and journal
  • Trends and new emerging conversations
  • Threshold issues and avoiding a desk reject
  • Why of relevance to ECRs
  • Q & A
  • Summary and concluding remarks

The Meet the Editor series has four aims:

  • To enhance knowledge on the latest changes and developments in publishing
  • To give opportunity for SBS researchers to ask questions about research and publishing to those who make the decisions
  • To strengthen links between SBS and a range of academic journals
  • To demystify the publishing process for PGR researchers
